Fall ball - tryouts are days away

Yesterday marked the end of my son's summer travel tournament season.  In summary it was a soul scorching end for a terrific group of kids. We had nick named the team 'the semis' as that championship round alluded them all year.  They made it yesterday  - and got trounced.  Tears ensued from my sun drained, physically spent kid. So did a lot of sharing of emails, cell numbers and promises to get together to toss around later this summer.  All in all an excellent experience. Stick doctor - changes to boy's sticks to address both 'now and later.'

facts gear parents yml2

Changes to the stick regulations are an inevitable part of the modern game of lacrosse. In both 2015 and 2016 the National Federation of High Schools ('NFHS') made a series of rule changes that impact boy's lacrosse sticks. Good news? A fix is easy...sort of. If you have to fill an...

"What's the score?"

"What's the score?"

Odd title, huh?  If you're a parent of a youth lacrosse parent, read on.   You know what that title conveys? All the words you should ever say to a ref as a parent at a lacrosse game. Shouting at a referee from the stands should never happen.  You think you may have seen a 'loose ball push' that got past the ref or perhaps you caught a  'cross check' from the angle you have, off the field and over the fence. But it's not your job to scream at an official about any of this.    In researching this...

A mouthguard a day - Part Two

curated products facts gear lifestyle

Mouthguards - part two - let's talk about maintenance and proper use.A step back first - now that we are on this mouthguard kick, let's make sure the guard you are using fits properly. Can you talk with it in? Have you bitten chunks out of it? If you are having a hard time breathing, or the guard is uncomfortable it's time to consider getting a different one.Assuming it fits, your guard should be cared for on a regular basis. Recognizing this could be like when the vet tells you to start brushing your cat's teeth daily (not happening) it...
