What does Warding look like?

chalk talk facts online resources vocabulary

What is warding?

'A player in possession of the ball may not use his free hand, or arm or any other part of his body to hold, push or control the direction of the movement of the cross or body of an opponent.'

Important to note that it's not necessarily the extended arm but instead it's the MOVEMENT of that extended arm that draws the warding call.

The visual on this slow motion clip helps clarify the warding call.

And this is the official's signal for 'warding off' courtesy of the US Lacrosse Official's Training Program.
